Learn Portuguese.Without opening an app.

One Portuguese word sits under the clock on your lock screen and stays there all day. You learn it in the glances you already take, not in sessions you have to find time for.

One email when it launches. Nothing else, ever.

  • No account, ever
  • Works with no network
  • $4.99, paid once

A phone lock screen at 9:41. The EveryGlance widget under the clock shows the Portuguese word Olá, pronounced oh-LAH, meaning hello.

Why the last one didn't work

It was never the app.
It was having to open it.

Every language app on your phone works, as long as you show up. Showing up is the hard part, and it is the one part they leave entirely to you.

  • The streak that died on a Tuesday

You miss one day. Then you feel bad about missing it. Then you delete the app.

  • Ten minutes you never find

Ten minutes a day sounds like nothing, right up until it has to compete with everything else in your day.

  • Words you met once

You saw it in a lesson three weeks ago. That is about the same as never seeing it at all.

  • Progress you can't feel

Finishing lessons is not the same thing as knowing a word when someone says it to you.

None of that is about discipline. It is about design, and the fix is a strange one: stop asking for attention, and go where the attention already is.

How it works

Three steps, then nothing.

  1. Pick a language and a pace

Portuguese from Brazil or Portugal. One to five new words a day. You pick how fast.

  2. Add the widget once

Hold down your lock screen, tap Customize, add EveryGlance. It takes about a minute, and the app walks you through it.

  3. Then forget about us

The word sits under your clock for hours. You see it again and again without ever deciding to study, and that is what makes it stick.

What you'll learn

Four words from your first week.

EverydayUnlocked

Olá

hello

Your first word. You already have it.

FeelingsLocked

saudade

Meaning hidden until launch.

No single English word quite covers it. That is the point.

FoodLocked

pequeno-almoço

Meaning hidden until launch.

Two words for one everyday meal. Brazil uses a different one entirely.

False friendsLocked

esquisito

Meaning hidden until launch.

It looks like "exquisite". It isn't.

Meanings unlock when the app does.

187hand-checked words in the launch set
14categories, from greetings to getting around
2complete variants, Brazil and Portugal

Every word comes with a pronunciation you can actually read. Olá becomes oh‑LAH, not a row of phonetic symbols. And an example sentence you would really hear.

The mechanism

Repetition isn't a feature. It is the whole product.

Language apps ask you to show up. EveryGlance asks for nothing.

A word doesn't stick because you studied it hard once. It sticks because you kept running into it, over and over, across days, until recognising it stopped being work.

So EveryGlance doesn't shuffle words every time you look. One word holds for hours, long enough to catch your eye dozens of times in passing. Then it comes back days later, right as you are starting to forget it, which is when a reminder is worth the most.

Six weeks of an app you open

  • You open an app, or you learn nothing that day
  • A word shows up once and disappears
  • Streaks, reminders and guilt do the motivating
  • You can recite lessons, not words

Six weeks of a word you pass

  • The word is already there, every time you check the time
  • One word holds for hours, then comes back days later
  • Nothing to keep up, so nothing to break
  • You know words before you remember learning them

Questions

Questions worth asking first.

Isn't this just another app I'll stop using?

Fair question. The honest answer is there is nothing here to keep using. You add the widget once. After that there are no sessions to attend, no streak to protect, and no notifications pulling you back. If you never open the app again, it keeps working just the same.

Can you really learn from a widget?

You won't become fluent from a lock screen, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What seeing a word over and over is genuinely good at is vocabulary: knowing a word and what it means without having to think about it. EveryGlance does that one job properly and leaves grammar and conversation to the things that are good at them.

What happens when I join the list?

One email, on the day EveryGlance reaches the App Store and Google Play. No drip sequence, no newsletter, and we never sell or share your address. Reply any time and we'll take you off the list.

Is there a subscription?

No. EveryGlance is $4.99 once on the App Store or Google Play and that is it. No subscription, no in-app purchases, and no cut-down free tier built to push you into paying more. Languages we add later are included in that price.

Does it need the internet?

No. Once you've installed the app and picked a language, the widget works offline. Nothing needs to load, and nothing needs a connection to keep showing you words.

What languages are available at launch?

Portuguese, in two complete variants: Brazilian and European. We treat them as separate languages rather than one with a toggle, because the everyday words really do differ. Spanish, French and German are planned next, and they won't cost extra.

How does the widget update?

Your phone refreshes the widget on a schedule the app sets in advance, roughly every few hours, all day. The app never needs to be open for it to happen.

The next word is already waiting.

Join the list and we'll send one email the day EveryGlance lands on the store. No drip sequence, no newsletter, no second email.

One email when it launches. Nothing else, ever.
